Oslo Cancer Cluster member Epitarget and French company EDAP TMS and INSERM have received EUR 1.1 mill grant from the European Union Eurostars programme.
Epitarget AS, the Scandinavian Drug Delivery Company, and French partners EDAP TMS (Nasdaq: EDAP) and INSERM have been awarded a EUR 1.1 mill grant from the European Union Eurostars programme to accelerate the transfer of the consortium’s ultrasound triggered drug delivery technology from laboratory to patient.
The technology comprises a nanocarrier designed to transport cancer drugs to tumours and an ultrasound device for triggering release from the carrier. In the current project, named Oncoson, a clinical ultrasound device prototype will be developed and further safety and efficacy studies will be conducted with the nanocarrier in animal models. The prototype nanocarrier is a sonosensitive liposome containing the cancer drug doxorubicin.
