Bjørn Klem is Chairman of the Board of Oslo Cancer Cluster and has been a board members since the establishment in 2006. Klem is also Project Director in Photocure ASA and holds a Master of Science in Pharmacy from Oslo University.
In Photocure he has been in charge of exploratory projects including clinical development of both Metvix® and Hexvix®, which have both successfully been introduced to markets world-wide. At the moment he is in charge of a new project for treatment of HPV infection and cervical precancer that has reached phase II in clinical development.
Before joining Photocure he was working with NAF-laboratoriene, Norsk Hydro and Pronova for 12 years in clinical development of oncology and cardiovascular projects. .
Bjørn Klem has broad experience in drug and device development for both diagnosis and therapy, including regulatory experience with both European authorities and FDA. In addition he has contributed to the commercialization of both Metvix and Hexvix through the Photocure launch of these products in the Nordic market. As part of project development and out-licensing he has also gained experience in health economics and partnering activities.
